Keeping our streets clean, welcoming, and vibrant is at the heart of our mission at Germantown United CDC. We are thrilled to share that, thanks to grant funding from the William Penn Foundation, we have officially installed 15 new trash cans along Chelten Avenue and Germantown Avenue!
These trash cans were intentionally placed at high traffic intersections, most of which are near bus stops. new additions represent a major step forward in reducing litter, maintaining our public spaces, and fostering community pride in Germantown.
You can spot our new trash receptacles at these high-foot-traffic locations:
Chelten & Wayne
Chelten & Knox
Chelten & Greene
Chelten & Germantown
Germantown & Washington
Germantown & Tulpehocken
Germantown & Rittenhouse

Together with our partners, local business owners, and active neighbors, we are working every day to ensure Germantown’s streets remain safe, accessible, and clean for everyone. You can join the efforts to keep our neighborhood’s corridors beautiful by using these new trash cans next time you’re out along Chelten or Germantown Ave!
